Airy Hill Old Farmhouse Reviews

Malcolm
Lovely accomodation. Roomy and comfortable.
House was comfy and spotless in a great position. Only complaint would be no info on how to work cooker ect. Tv definatly.needs updating. Could.not stream most programs. Would have been good to have netflix or the dvds advertised but wete not there.
Heather
The house was perfect for us, our children & partners and two dogs. Lots of space for everybody, enough bathrooms and well equipped. The four parking spaces were brilliant as parking is so difficult in Whitby. We did several walks starting from the cinder path at the back of the property and it's only a 10 minute walk into town via a steep hill. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Kenneth
Would be nice to have a bbq in garden could do with door storage in fridge in kitchen for milk
We read the reviews from last year who complained about shower control not ... We read the reviews from last year who complained about shower control not working also no plugs in sinks still nothing done
The farmhouse was booked for my wifes 60th birthday celebrations, she wanted to celebrate with her family. Everything about the farmhouse was superb and everybody was impressed with it
We couldnt fault the cottage, it was near enough perfect, the only thing to let i5 down was the shower in the first bedroom. It had no power and came out as a dribble either freezing cold or scalding hot, hopefully this can be rectified and then the cottage will get 1010 and a 5 star rating.

Lovely property, great spot just outside of town but close enough to walk in. Really cosy and a fantastic price. We would definitely stay again
Lovely home, very spacious and comfortable, very clean, perfect spot to walk ... Lovely home, very spacious and comfortable, very clean, perfect spot to walk into whitby, and to walk along cinder track, if I had to pick on something, not enough hangers, by door for coats, in room for clothes, teatowels in kitchen and towels in the bathroom, but everything else was lovely,
There was an immediate response to our telephone call upon arrival about the kettle not working and a new one was delivered to the door super quickly. Thank you! Unfortunately, the shower in the family bathroom had an issue with temperature control. We could not use it at all for the duration of our stay as my son burned himself on the first night when the water was so hot. Every single person in our party attempted to adjust the temperature but it just would not move from very hot. Otherwise, the bath was great as were the other two showers. The bed in the master where the fireplace is was super comfortable and I slept very well I often don't!. The living area sofas were extremely comfortable and easy to relax on. Loved the reading light as I am a bookworm. The only other thing I would mention is that the locks on the bathroomtoilet doors do not work and I hurt my finger on a nail on the banister repeatedly where it is jutting out. I had to hold on to the banister as the stairs are a bit steep which is how I managed to notice the nail. I also managed to sustain a cut to my palm because of the flaking metallic paint or whatever it was on the door handle on the outside of the front door when I locked it upon going out the first day. I would not typically describe myself as clumsy so maybe these minor things just need a quick tweak? All in all, a great location, lovely cool fresh air, amazing scenery, and the perfect type of layout for the dogs. The kitchen was well equipped and we used the washing machine a fair bit! We rent somewhere for a week every summer and it is interesting that some kitchens aren't equipped well enough for cooking and sometimes there aren't things like a washing line and pegs, so for our particular needs, this farmhouse was very good! I think the holiday property was very good value for money.
Wonderful, comfortable property. Superb position for access to the Cinder Track. Car parking was a bit tight for 2 cars. Hopefully will return in the future.

Absolutely fantastic. We had a family Christmas break. The kitchen facilities for preparing food was brilliant. The spacious kitchen diner and living room area was brilliant. Close to all amenities and beautiful walks. Very friendly pubs in walking distance. Definitely booking again. We had a superb time.
Alison
A great property for a family group and several dogs.
Farmhouse was clean, beds comfortable, plenty of hot water, good position with a short ten minute walk into Whitby. Unfortunately, it had rather an unkempt feeling. Patio had not been swept and had cigarette ends. Garden area clearly hadnt been tended for a long time and was full of weeds, though someone planted a few pansies in a tub while we were there. The recycling bin was full when we arrived. No outside lighting at the front door so if you arrive at night you will need a torch. Equally no at the back door where the recycling bins were. The main bathroom door didnt lock or even shut properly. Downstairs loo didnt lock either. The kitchen lacked a cafetire so we couldnt make a decent coffee. No visitors book, or suggestion book. No local information either. Apparently, these were available if you download an app, but thats not really the point. Disappointing property for the price charged.

Lovely spacious and spotlessly clean cottage which suited our multi generational party perfectly. Bedrooms and bathrooms nicely furnished and clean fresh. Garden secure and great for our dog. Kitchen decently equipped for cooking, loads of fridge space and storage plus space for the dog bed. We didnt use the wood burners but logs gloves supplied. 20 min walk to Whitby, 2 min drive to supermarket, and Parkrun right next door for sat morning!
Vivienne
All in all a lovely weekend break with the whole family to celebrate a birthday. The farmhouse was ready on arrival.Very clean and homely. Our family were already placing Christmas trees in their heads and planning the turkey dinner in the farmhouse kitchen. A very spacious and comfortable home with bathrooms for all. The only very minor problem was the main bathroom door which had to be lifted to lock. Lovely enclosed garden for our two small dogs and a 10 minute walk to Whitby itself. Would fully recommend.
An excellent cottage felt spacious for 8. Good layout with plenty of different areas for people to relax. All equipment you would need is provided, along with plenty of storage space. Really handy location for walking into Whitby, and access to the Cinder Track. Owner was really helpful.
The Cottage was very spacious and clean. the only problem we had was the patio could do we a sweep and clean, not nice to sit outside, also our first weekend there we has a group of youths camping in the field behind us they stayed until Sunday afternoon could not get pass them omn the Cinder track for them eating. Also the BBQ was not clean out and could not use. The cinder Track was a nice way of getting to Whirby without using the car, and also a Trip to Ruswarp is well worth a visit to the Jackson Butchers.

We had a lovely time at Airy cottage over Easter. The property was well located and we managed to do lots of different trails from the house and still be central enough to walk into Whitby. The dog bowls and towels that were provided were a lovely touch. The house was very clean, as were the bathrooms. We thought the kitchen could have been better equipped for the size of the properly but we do like to cook a lot. The ensuite shower in the small double we couldnt get working properly, it was either really hot or very cold with little water pressure. We managed with using the other two bathrooms though.
James Andrew
The property was absolutely fantastic. Immaculate bedding and bathrooms. The outside facilities were fantastic too. We have booked for December too. It was a lovely touch having the dog bowls and towels provided thank you so much.
A lovely cosy cottage with lots of room. Situated close to a sixth form college but this did not affect our privacy. We did not report it at the time but 2 of the outside lights did not work if you could bring this to the attention of the owner please In walking distance of Whitby a steep hill on the way back!
We had an absolutely wonderful family four generation Christmas! The house was big enough to house us all and still give us space not to be in top of each other. We spent quite a lot of time around the large table in the kitchen just like families used to do. Thank you so much for wonderful memories.
Really feel quite petty with this feed back but might be useful to future guests more toilet rolls one per loo didn't last long so tske a supply and beds weren't very comfortable but apart from that had a great time even though it was very icy. Would certainly recommend and in very easy walking distance to Whitby.
Ideal for 3 couples and location to whitby good. List of where to buy additional logs would be ideal. Good Value for money.
Great place good location too
Excellent property and location. Front door did need two hands to unlock. Stairs were a bit steeper than expected. Property and surrounding walks were excellent for our dogs.
A very nice cottage, a large kitchen and table, and a large sitting room gave us plenty of space as did the bed rooms, its close to the cinder track with walks to next village and pub, also close to town, you can walk straight across main road or by the underpass, the school next door was very quiet when we were there. there are few things that the owner should be aware of as stated by other people the front door key or lock are badly worn and can take a lot of fiddling to it work, the dish washer needs a good clean as when we first used it it just took the dirt off the lower plates and put it back on the upper plates, after that we used it on the top setting which was better, the first bedroom ensuite shower leaks and the basin plug is broken, the bathroom door lower hinge is broken and you have to lift the door to lock and unlock it, this could leave a child trapped in. there are no toilet roll holders, and just a petty little thing someone has put the backdoor lock in the wrong way round.
The Cottage was Spacious and had everything in we needed. It was located very close to school car park, and although this didn't cause us a problem, being there during school holidays,I think it could be more of an issue during term time.
Trevor
Excellent situation country walks 'from the doorstep', short walk to Whitby and supermarket within easy reach Good accommodation for our family of 8 incl. good clean bedrooms and ensuites, large sitround kitchen table, large livingroom BUT some things need to be checked by owners betwwen occupations On arrival, some crockery in cupboard was not clean & grill pan was dirty Several pieces of dogdirt from more than one dog were found on the grass in the garden Dinner plates and grill pan which we never used were too big for the dishwasher At times we found the front door difficult to unlock with the key
This is a return visit to the cottage. We find the cottage well situated with good walks close at hand. The amenities are excellent. There is a bit of wear and tear including the front door which is difficult to open. The garden could do with a bit of TLC. a good watering in the hot weather would help. But otherwise a good place to stay.
Pauline
We just had a lovely holiday here. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The flowers and essentials such as milk, tea and coffee sachets to get us started was very welcome after a long drive. If I was going to recommend anything, it would be a folder with some ideas of things to do that have been recommended by guests and lists of dog friendly places to eat and good takeawaydelivery places. Also a couple of gamesjigsaws for rainy afternoons. I know many places are steering away from this as most things are done online but sometimes the old fashioned things are welcome. We really can't say enough about this lovely property. Five adults and a dog and we each had our own space and bathroom area which really helped in the mornings, everything was to a high standard and to have space for parking so close to Whitby was a bonus. The property is right on the cinder path which made it perfect for lead free walks for the dog in the morning. If we return to holiday in the area, we will book again for sure.
Sandra
Very homely cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay over New Year. When we arrived it was all decorated for Christmas. A very lovely touch was the mince pies on the kitchen table and milk in the fridge. The only draw back if going during school term times would be parking. Perhaps wardrobes in the other two bedrooms would have been nice.
Kathryn
Good ,interesting location very convenient for both walking and getting into busy Whitby. Great for a large family especially the kitchen. Lounge area very sparse and kitchen equipment very variable
Couldnt open french doors, only one side opened as key seemed to have been glued in the lock of one door! Handheld on the lounge windows wouldnt open as they were broken. Carpets were ripped in places. No cushions on any of the sofas. For the money I paid I have stayed in better accommodations. This property could do with an overall.
This property does not have working WiFi and nothing was done during our stay to rectify. The peopertu
Great property, nice and spacious. Good location even though the property is next to a school, it wasn't an issue. Only 10 minute walk in to town. Would stay at this property again.
